Join us for the Lung Walk on Friday, 5 July, from 7:00 AM to 8:15 AM. The event starts at Slessor Gardens with stretching from 7:00 AM to 7:15 AM, followed by a 2.5km long walk from 7:15 AM to 7:45 AM (30 minutes), and concludes with a healthy breakfast from 7:45 AM to 8:15 AM at the café of the Discovery Point and RRS Discovery.

Talking about “respiratory health” means also considering policies that promote both environmental and human health. For WBC 2024, we’re looking to gather our onsite delegates, faculty, and industry representatives to participate in a fun and engaging event aimed at highlighting the benefits of simple activities that promote a healthy lifestyle.

The 2.5km long “Lung Walk” will take place on July 5 at the beginning of the daily programme. This activity will consist of a brisk yet relaxed walk near the Tay River. The walk will provide an excellent opportunity for participants to engage in light physical activity while fostering a convivial atmosphere that encourages interaction and networking among all attendees.

The event is designed to promote awareness about respiratory health and the importance of incorporating regular physical activity into our daily routines. The session will begin with stretching exercises to prepare participants for the walk, ensuring everyone is limber and ready to go. After the walk, a healthy breakfast will be served, providing a perfect occasion to discuss and reflect on the morning’s activities and the broader themes of the conference.

Pre-registration online is mandatory (limited places available on a first come, first served basis)

Information regarding the short health walk:

Our walk will be just short of 3km on a flat route from Slessor Gardens to Discovery Point.  There will be a Walk leader at the front, leading the group, and others spread throughout, with a Leader at the back.

  • Register your name with one of our Walk Leaders before the walk begins.
  • Only participate in the walk if you are fit enough.  If you have any concerns, please talk to a health professional before participating.
  • Walk at a pace that suits you.  The back walk leader will walk at the pace of the last person in the group.
  • If you feel unwell whilst on the walk please let a walk leader know.
  • Please let a Walk Leader know if you intend to leave the walk before the finish point.
  • It is up to you to make sure you complete the health walk safely.  We will be crossing a major road using the Pedestrian crossing.  As we are a large group, we will not all be able to cross together.  Please adhere to the instructions given by the crossing (green man/red man).

There is also a possibility to register at the registration desk on 4th July upon availability. Please note that this event is reserved exclusively for participants registered to the Conference.

We encourage all attendees to take advantage of this unique opportunity to combine health, networking, and learning in a supportive and engaging environment.
