You are invited to submit a research abstract or a case report for topics related to Bronchiectasis; causes, comorbidities, management and evolution, for consideration as:

The 9th World Bronchiectasis Conference is keen to support the development of the next generation of researchers and clinicians operating in the field of bronchiectasis and related comorbidities (NTM, PCD, etc.). If you are a junior professional this is your opportunity to share your work.

To be eligible as a Rising Star you have to meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Age under 40
  • 5 or fewer years since obtaining your PhD
  • Still enrolled in a PhD programme

 

PURPOSE

You are invited to submit a research abstract or a case report for topics related to Bronchiectasis; causes, comorbidities, management and evolution, for consideration as:

 

THE CONCEPT

Four junior professionals, selected by a strict process, will have the opportunity to:

  • Present a lecture in the main session of the program together with the other international faculty members
  • Enjoy free conference ticket, travel and hotel accommodation
  • “Rising Star” winners will be voted for by the audience
  • The two best “Rising Stars” will be awarded the Rising Star Prize at the Closing Ceremony

 

TOPICS

Rising Star entries can include any of the following topics

  • Basic Science (aetiology & pathophysiology)
  • Clinical Trials
  • Comorbidities (AATD, Asthma, COPD, etc.)
  • Cystic Fibrosis and Bronchiectasis
  • Immunology & Inflammation (including ABPA, inborn errors of immunity, primary immunode­ciency, neutrophil function/dysfunction)
  • Infections (Pseudomonas, Haemophilus, etc.)
  • Management & Organisation of a clinical service
  • NTM – Nontuberculous Mycobacteria
  • Nurses and Allied Healthcare Professionals experiences
  • Paediatric Bronchiectasis
  • Patient experience
  • PCD – Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia
  • Respiratory Physiotherapy & Airway Clearance
  • Registries
  • Treatments

 

Compulsory Criteria

The main selecting criteria will be the relevancy and scientific value of the abstract presented, evaluated by the Organizing and Scientific Committee of the conference. The choice will be made at the Committee discretion. In the case of equality, the following priority criteria will be applied.

 

Priority Criteria

Age: Younger or less experienced professionals will have priority over senior / more experienced entrants

Provenience: priority will be given to researchers / clinicians working in low–income countries – with limited access to funds

Notifications to submitters will be sent in April 2026.
Kindly note that if your Rising Star application is not accepted, it may still be selected for an oral or poster presentation.

PURPOSE

You are invited to submit a research abstract or case report report for topics related to Bronchiectasis; causes, comorbidities, management and evolution, for consideration as Oral Presentation.

THE CONCEPT

The Scientific Committee will select several Oral Presentations to be delivered in the Plenary Room.

Accepted Oral presenters will have the opportunity to present their work within the conference programme.

“Oral Presentation” topics include all of the topics covered by the main programme.

PURPOSE

You are invited to submit a research abstract or case report for topics related to bronchiectasis; causes, comorbidities, management and evolution, for consideration as a Poster Presentation.

 

 THE CONCEPT

Accepted Poster presenters will have the opportunity to:

  • Display your poster in front of the international audience of 1000
  • Discuss your work with the members of the scientific committee and the audience in the thematic poster sessions that will take place in the afternoon of 25 and 26 June 2026
  • Winners will have their profile and work featured on the congress website and will receive a free registration for the 5th European Bronchiectasis Workshop taking place in 2027
