Bronchiectasis Research Priority Setting Workshop – Health Care Professional Session
Date: Tuesday, 15 July 2025
Time: 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM AEST (on-site only)
Location: Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (as part of WBC 2025)
Lung Foundation Australia is leading an international initiative to define the top research priorities in bronchiectasis—grounded in the real-world experiences of clinicians, researchers, and people living with the disease.
This Health Care Professional (HCP) Workshop will bring together a multidisciplinary group of professionals working in bronchiectasis care, research, and advocacy to help shape an internationally relevant research agenda.
Participants will engage in small group discussions to evaluate and rank the most pressing research uncertainties, informed by early survey responses from the bronchiectasis community.
Why participate?
- Influence the direction of future bronchiectasis research
- Collaborate with international peers and leading experts
- Ensure clinical perspectives are represented in setting global research priorities
- Support the translation of real-world clinical challenges into focused research questions
How does the process work?
This initiative follows a structured, inclusive methodology based on the James Lind Alliance framework. The steps include:
- Survey Distribution (Coming Soon)
Separate surveys for consumers/carers and health professionals will collect unanswered questions and research needs across key thematic areas. - Thematic Analysis
Survey responses will be analysed and grouped into overarching research themes, with duplication removed. - Consensus Workshops at WBC 2025
During this HCP workshop, participants will review and rank the consolidated themes in small, facilitated groups to reach agreement on the most urgent research priorities. - Dissemination
The final top priorities will be published and promoted globally to funders, research institutions, and policy-makers.
