VISA REQUIREMENTS - GERMANY
International participants planning to attend the 9th World Bronchiectasis Conference in Hannover, Germany, from 24–27 June 2026, may require a visa to enter the country. Please ensure you check your visa requirements well in advance of your travel dates.
To assist you, here is a general overview of visa options for visiting Germany
WHO NEED A VISA?
- Citizens of non-EU/EEA/Switzerland countries generally need a visa to enter Germany.
- Citizens of countries with visa-free access to the Schengen Area do not need a visa for stays up to 90 days in a 180-day period.

TYPES OF VISAS
- Short-Stay Schengen Visa (Type C):
- For stays up to 90 days.
- Suitable for tourism, business, family visits, events, conferences, or cultural/sports activities.
- National Visa (Type D – Long Stay):
- For stays over 90 days.
- Suitable for work, study, research, family reunification, or other long-term purposes.
HOW TO APPLY
- For short-stay (Schengen) visas:
- Apply in person at the embassy, consulate, or visa center in your country.
- If you have provided fingerprints in the last 59 months, you may not need to repeat them.
- Check the local mission’s website in advance for required documents.
- Complete the Schengen visa application form (VIDEX) online, then print it and bring it to your appointment.
- For long-stay (National) visas:
- Apply in person at the local embassy, consulate, or visa center.
- The mission provides the application forms and detailed instructions for each visa category.

Please note that the Organising Secretariat can provide you with an invitation letter stating that your registration is confirmed only upon receiving full payment for your selected services.
The Organising Secretariat will not be able to help you with the visa procedure itself. Each participant is responsible to contact his/her embassy.
